Stumbling

This tune was written by Zez Confrey in 1922. It’s the lament of an awkward young man whose girl talks him into taking her to the big dance down at the armory. Now, he can’t dance a lick, but she insists that they try. The poor guy is stumbling all around, stepping on her feet, and finally slips and falls flat on the floor. She likes him anyway. “Stumbling”.
